I'm Métis, and this site is a project of personal interest. It brings together the history of colonial assimilation and child separation in Canada, starting with residential schools, and looks at parallels in other parts of the world.

It's a work in progress. I try to cite sources carefully and to let each history be understood on its own terms, but mistakes can slip through.
